What a wonderful idea! I think its great that families and friends join and do things together over the holiday season. It's so easy to get wrapped up in the unimportant things, especially with the craze of purchasing gifts. I hope you have fun!

I hope you'll remember me if you learn of anyone moving to "The OC" and I will do the same!

Best regards,

Gail I think that it is great all the things that Libraries do for kids that go beyond just providing them with books. Libraries sure have come a long way from the time I was a kid :)

I am not sure if they even had books back then ............ LOL

Hi Gail!  What a nice thing for your families in the Black Rock area to know.  The kids do get bored quickly and it is always nice to have some good alternatives available to plan for especially when they are free!

Michael - I WISH I had a client moving to OC!  If I ever do, you're the one I'll call.

George - In cities, libraries have become essential to the quality of life.  There are computers for kids to do their homework and for job seekers to find work.  There is also a children's area with comfortable seating near floor level.  Community groups meet on the lower level in the meeting rooms.  I just went to a fabulous fundraiser for the library sponsored by the Black Rock Rotary club two weeks ago where they had jazz musicians and half a dozen wine tasting stations plus fabulous appetizers and desserts.  I know what you mean about libraries when I was young.  My mom took me to the library every week and I remember that they wouldn't let me take books out of the adult section because I was under 13 y.o.  My mom had to put them on her card.  Kind of crazy because I wasn't reading Madame Bovary, I was a bit of a nerd (okay, I was REALLY a nerd) and loved to read books from every subject area, just to explore.  I always felt books were an adventure.

Sharon - Our library is the center of our community.  It has events for kids, art exhibits, and many wonderful events.

Gail, great localism post and what a wonderful holiday even in your community for people to get out and celebrate the holidays with the little ones!

Debra - Thank you.  The Black Rock Library does a good job with holding community events.
