Fairfield County Homes for Sale: Featured Home Section of Connecticut Post Returns with a Twist

Featured Home Section of Connecticut Post Returns with a Twist

62 Prescott StreetThe Featured Home section of our local newspaper, the Connecticut Post, was discontinued the day before one of my listings was about to be featured.  This was frustrating for me as the reporter had stated in June that she would try to set up the feature in early July.  Then the day before the reporter was scheduled to come she called to say that her Featured Home section was being discontinued and that a national syndicate was taking over the spot.

Well, the Featured Home section is back in the paper, but the national syndicate has been given the same amount of space (two pages) as the previous feature.  Now one home will be featured on the front page of the Real Estate section and several homes will be featured on the second page.  My listing at 62 Prescott Street which was supposd to get a two page spread will get less than 1/4 of a page and it will be on the second page, but at least it will be in the paper.

More homes will be featured, but the copy on the homes will be shorter and there will be fewer photos.  Last week was the first with the new format.  I will be holding an Open House there tomorrow and hope that I get the turnout I got at my last one with over 44 attendees.

Gail your blog is looking better and better.  I need a lesson from an expert marketer like you.

Hi Gail - It's a beautiful home and I am sure you will get many to attend.  People do use the Connecticut Post for real estate news!

Gail I can see how frustrating that would be, but at least you are getting some exposure, and hopefully it will lead to a sale.

George - There is a lot of interest in this home.  I'm expecting that it will sell pretty soon.

Gail, the problems of print advertising takes it's toll. Too costly to run numerous pages, so charge only slightly less and give smaller sizes. At least you will get copy .

What a problem to have, Gail. I wish I could have that problem one day, that and 44 attendees to an open house. One of those 44 have to buy...

Ed - I got a great turnout today at the OH.  Two sets of serious buyers.  One couple came back with a parent, so you know that's serious.

William - One of the 44 did buy.  We didn't get as many attendees at this OH, but of those that attended two were serious.
